The United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, which identified the basic rights all humans should have regardless of nationality. These included freedoms and rights to speech and expression, religion and education.

But human rights issues still exist today. Whether it be in repressive countries that ban free speech or in developed countries where race and sex are still undertones in the workplace, there is always room for improvement. The following is a small taste of some current human rights issues.
