The United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, which identified the basic rights all humans should have regardless of nationality. These included freedoms and rights to speech and expression, religion and education.
But human rights issues still exist today. Whether it be in repressive countries that ban free speech or in developed countries where race and sex are still undertones in the workplace, there is always room for improvement. The following is a small taste of some current human rights issues.
China, the United States of America and Iran are three very different countries, and we analyze the various freedom of speech issues in each.
Cuba has been under communist rule for several decades, and as a result, has several unique human rights issues.
Powerful nations have long provided aid to poor countries, but aid-spending is noticeably decreasing.
The U.S. is one of the most developed
nations as far as human rights issues go,nations, but women still experience discrimination to this day.
